New Twitter & You
Hello Friends!! How are you doing? Today Morning when I checked my mail I was greeted with a mail from Twitter, There are Two Updates they have mentioned in this mail.
Update No. 1: New authorization rules for applications
Update No. 2: t.co URL wrapping
You might have heard that New Twitter is expected to go live in next few days. According to Twitter’s Official Blog they are enhancing the user experience by integrating applications like TweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon & websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, orTopsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, orFoursquare in the main stream.
Today’s mail from Twitter in a step forward towards the New Twitter the states the changes as below
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hi @tejasjinturkar,
Over the coming weeks, we will be making two important updates that will impact how you interact with Twitter applications. We are sending this notice to all Twitter users to make sure you are aware of these changes.
What are applications?
There are over 250,000 applications built using the Twitter API. To use most applications, you first authorize the application to access your Twitter account, after which you can use it to read and post Tweets, discover new users and more. Applications come in many varieties, including desktop applications likeTweetDeck, Seesmic, or EchoFon, websites such as TweetMeme, fflick, orTopsy, or mobile applications such as Twitter for iPhone, Twitter for Blackberry, or Foursquare.
Update 1: New authorization rules for applications
Starting August 31, all applications will be required to use “OAuth” to access your Twitter account.
What's OAuth?
· OAuth is a technology that enables applications to access Twitter on your behalf with your approval without asking you directly for your password.
· Desktop and mobile applications may still ask for your password once, but after that request, they are required to use OAuth in order to access your timeline or allow you to tweet.
What does this mean for me?
· Applications are no longer allowed to store your password.
· If you change your password, the applications will continue to work.
· Some applications you have been using may require you to reauthorize them or may stop functioning at the time of this change.
· All applications you have authorized will be listed athttp://twitter.com/settings/ connections.
· You can revoke access to any application at any time from the list.
Update 2: t.co URL wrapping
In the coming weeks, we will be expanding the roll-out of our link wrapping service t.co, which wraps links in Tweets with a new, simplified link. Wrapped links are displayed in a way that is easier to read, with the actual domain and part of the URL showing, so that you know what you are clicking on. When you click on a wrapped link, your request will pass through the Twitter service to check if the destination site is known to contain malware, and we then will forward you on to the destination URL. All of that should happen in an instant.
You will start seeing these links on certain accounts that have opted-in to the service; we expect to roll this out to all users by the end of the year. When this happens, all links shared on Twitter.com or third-party apps will be wrapped with a t.co URL.
What does this mean for me?
· A really long link such as http://www.amazon.com/ Delivering-Happiness-Profits- Passion-Purpose/dp/0446563048 might be wrapped as http://t.co/DRo0trj for display on SMS, but it could be displayed to web or application users as amazon.com/Delivering- or as the whole URL or page title.
· You will start seeing links in a way that removes the obscurity of shortened links and lets you know where each link will take you.
· When you click on these links from Twitter.com or a Twitter application, Twitter will log that click. We hope to use this data to provide better and more relevant content to you over time.
Thanks for reading this important update. Come and check what's new at http://twitter.com.
Thanks,
The Twitter Team”

As a part of User Experience Enhancement Twitter following are the key modification in Twitter’s main stream
1. New Design: Change in Timeline Appearance
2. Media: Embedded Media displayed directly on Twitter
3. Related Content: Additional information on the Tweet e.g. Author’s Bio, replies etc.
4. Mini Profiles: Quick Access to account information

Observations from Kashmir Tour
Hi folks,
You must have heard about the turbulent Kashmir from past few days. Kashmir is in limelight more for issues like terrorism & violence. Moreover from my recent experience I wanted to share few experiences with you all. I visited few places in Kashmir in the month of May-June 2010, First stunning beauty of Kashmir is has no match on this earth. Although badly affected by wide spread terrorism & violence, these guys are failed to spoil the beauty of the valley.
Following are few observations of my Kashmir Tour.
- Right from Hotel Owner to Sweeper at the Shalimar Garden 99% of those localities I have interacted asked one typical question “Kaisa Laga Hamara Kashmir” (What do you feel about Kashmir)?
- Two things which are not constant here Mausam & Mauhol of Valley.
- Sun sets after 8pm (at least in summer) here. I was surprised at 8pm you will feel that still its 6 o’clock only, I was surprised to see this.
- Your road journey is accompanied with Himalaya at one side & a river deep valley on the other side.
- And yeah …. Entire roads, towns & villages are advertised with Aircel, Airtel & Idea advertising campaigns.
- I have not seen mountain range like Himalaya. In fact I was feeling Human Beings are just miniscule against the nature. Thrilling experience of highways in the valley present no chance for mistakes. One wrong judgment & you are directly in heaven or hell (whichever applicable). The 2-3 feet distance between tire of your bus & valley is the thin line between life & death.
- Most importantly we posses an anonymous fear about Kashmir. Personally I didn’t find anything to fear there. Yeah in entire valley you will find Army movement & CRPF Men guarding highways, mountains, gardens & government establishments, neither of them was troublesome.
- Pehalgam is one of the best places to plan stay. Unlike Gulmarg & Sonmarg where you need to spend some extra bucks to get close to snow, at Chandanwadi you will find it at walk able distance.
- For tourist shopping is cumbersome experience. Vendors will charge anything they want to tourist. Be careful while shopping here.
P. S: It was most wonderful vacation I have had in my life. Spending 10 full days with my parents is best feeling to have when you stay away from them.
Don’t miss an opportunity to visit the valley. I will end this post by saying a dialogue which inspired movie Sanjay Dutt’s movie Lamha “KASHMIR IS BEAUTIFUL PRISION” !!
Note: Suggestions & Feedbacks are most welcome. Post them in the comments section. I will be happy to improve the quality of the posts.
